Can-Am introduced the Spyder in 2007 with their 2008 first year production model. The body style and mechanics for the 2008 GS Roadster were essentially the same as this 2009 GS SM5.
“Gus” is powered by a 998 cc V-twin engine and shifts like a normal motorcycle with a hand-clutch transmission utilizing 5 forward gears (1 down, 4 up) and a reverse gear.
The seating position is similar to a sport motorcycle with the foot pegs positioned below the hip line with knees bent. Normal riding position is a slight forward lean depending on the height of the driver.
